A flavorful herb used in Mexican cuisine. Papalo is a green leafy herb with thin, branched stalks. Its soft leaves are light green in color, flat and oval shaped with scalloped edges. Papalo’s strong flavor is distinctly unique and hard to describe; It has spiciness reminiscent of nasturtium flowers with a flavor similar to cilantro or rue with just a hint of lime. Its pungent aroma permeates into its taste. Papalo is best used in fish dishes, salsas and guacamole.
Store as you would flowers, in a vase with stems in water. Keep leaves dry until ready to eat. Use within 1-2 days for best results.
