Shallots’ sweet flavor can be described as the best of onion with garlic. Each small tapered bulb is wrapped in pinkish-brown paper thin skin and divided into clusters of twos or threes. They are used in fresh cooking and often finely sliced. Shallots taste somewhat like a common onion, but have a milder flavor. Savory and aromatic when raw. As they cook, their flavor becomes more delicate and sweet.
